Teachers often work in neighborhoods different from where they live. They may teach students from different socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. Understanding these differences may not be enough to partner with families. Teachers and schools need to provide opportunities for families, community members and educators to get to know one another and develop respect and appreciation for what each brings to educating children. This module provides strategies to do this.
